The Rotary Club of Adelanto recognizes two Adelanto Elementary School District students, one on the third Wednesday and one on the fourth Wednesday of each month, throughout the school year. The students must meet at least one of the following criteria in order to be nominated for the S.T.A.R. award, "Striving To Achieve Results":
- Improvement in GPA
- Improvement in Attitude
- Improvement in Attendance
On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 Rabea Hassan, a 5th grade student at Gus Franklin, Jr. STEM School, was presented with the Rotary Club’s S.T.A.R. award and a gift card at the Rotary Club of Adelanto luncheon. The student is also asked what they want to be when they grow up; Rabea answered that she hopes to work in the medical field as a clinical psychologist.
Mrs. Murphy, Rabea’s teacher, wrote the following introduction that was read at the Rotary Club’s meeting:
“Rabea is a hard working student with personal drive. She has excellent citizenship skills. Academically she has shown great growth this year. She has already shown over a year of growth in both Mathematics and reading this school year.”
