On Wednesday, January 24, 2018 Semaj Walton, a 6th grade student at Columbia Middle School, was presented with the Rotary Club’s S.T.A.R. award and a gift card at the Rotary Club of Adelanto luncheon. The student is also asked what they want to be when they grow up; Semaj answered that he wants to be a Police officer because he wants to help people.
Mr. Forbes, Semaj’s teacher wrote the following introduction that was read at the Rotary Club’s meeting:
“Semaj is an outstanding young man with close to perfect attendance and above average grades. When he started his sixth grade year, we had a rocky start with his immaturity. After communicating with dad a few times I saw a little bit of a change. However, Semaj has gone from night to day. His behavior is remarkable and his maturity is blossoming. I am recommending Semaj because he has become a model student in class
