9-11 Tribute at Adelanto Elementary School

9-11 Tribute 2016

September 11, 2016 marked the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the world trade center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  Here at Adelanto Elementary School, to commemorate this most important event, we’ve organized our 3rd Annual special tribute to those lives lost on that fateful day in 2001.  This year, as the date of the anniversary neared, our teachers, students, and office staff worked together to make this annual event meaningful for ALL in attendance.

Several local government, Adelanto Community Leaders, our entire student body, teachers, office staff, and members of our community were in attendance.  Special visitors with us that day included Adelanto City Mayor Richard Kerr, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s, Curtis Green from the County Supervisor’s office, American Legion Post 256 as well as 25th district Vice Commander Michael Yates, PAK Coalition Men Mob Frank Kelley, San Bernardino Battalion Commander Tim Porter, Pastor Herald King, and AESD representative Ajay Mohindra.

Student art ranging from depictions of the Twin Towers, American Flags, a 20’ banner with the iconic phrase “We Will Never Forget”, and several other works decorated our beautiful Adelanto Elementary quad area.  Along with inspiring words from Vice Commander Yates, many of our students participated in illustrating for all present the events that took place 15 years ago.  The key message will always be, “We Will Never Forget.”

Go Cougars!
