- Improvement in Attitude
- Improvement in Attendance
On Wednesday, August 24th, Corrina Gomez, an 8th grade student at George Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School, was presented with the Rotary Club’s S.T.A.R. award and a gift card at their luncheon. The student is also asked what they want to be when they grow up; Corrina answered that she wants to become a lawyer within the Air Force.
Mrs. Martin, Corrina’s teacher, wrote the following introduction that was read at the Rotary Club’s meeting:
“During my 23 years in the Visual and Performing Arts, I have worked with hundreds of students on stage. Each student contributes something very unique to a performance. Every now and again there is one that stands out from the rest. This one demands their audience’s attention. They do this by demonstrating the ability to transform into the character role. Corrina Gomez is that one! I have worked with Corrina for the past three years. Each year she has shown progressive growth as an actor and student of the Fine Arts. She has stepped into the roles that many shy away from. Corrina has a very positive attitude and has become a wonderful role model for her peers. Corrina’s talent, abilities, and professionalism on and off the stage reaches far beyond her physical years.”
