A Message from the Interim Superintendent
I am honored to serve as the Interim Superintendent of the Adelanto Elementary School District. It is a privilege to work alongside our dedicated educators, staff, students, and families as we continue to provide high-quality learning experiences and support for every child.
Throughout my career, I have seen the power of strong relationships, effective leadership, and a shared commitment to student success. My focus is to build on the district’s strong foundation, foster collaboration, and ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
As we move forward together, we are committed to finishing this school year strong, academically, financially, and as a united community. By staying focused on student achievement and working collaboratively, I am confident that we will close the year with pride and momentum for the future.
I look forward to getting to know our community, supporting our schools, and working together to advance the success of all Adelanto students.

Leadership Profile
Dr. Marco A. Villegas serves as Interim Superintendent of the Adelanto Elementary School District, bringing more than 30 years of experience in public education and executive leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and is a respected educator known for his focus on student achievement, organizational effectiveness, and strong community partnerships.
Prior to joining Adelanto, Dr. Villegas served as Superintendent of the El Rancho Unified School District, where he led initiatives centered on instructional excellence, fiscal responsibility, and leadership development. He has also served as Associate Superintendent in Pasadena Unified School District, Director of East Region, Learning & Teaching in Ontario-Montclair School District, and principal in both Monrovia and Ontario, California. Throughout his career, he has built collaborative teams and implemented strategic improvements that strengthen teaching and learning.
Dr. Villegas has presented at state and national conferences and authored articles in well-known educational publications, contributing to the broader conversation on effective leadership and school improvement. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University and California State University, Los Angeles, helping prepare future school leaders.
A proud product of public schools and the youngest of four siblings, Dr. Villegas is a husband and father of five. Spanish was his first language, and his life experiences continue to shape his belief that when schools set high expectations, build strong relationships, and stay focused on students, communities thrive. He looks forward to working alongside the Adelanto community to finish the year strong and build lasting momentum for the future success of every student.
