AESD Canceling Before and After School Activities and Events through Friday, April 17, 2020

March 12, 2020

Dear AESD families and employees,

As you know, the health and safety of our students, staff and our surrounding community is a priority. To help limit spread of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus COVID-19, AESD will be canceling all upcoming before and after school extra-curricular activities and events at the school sites and within the District. These activities and events include school site parent nights, sports practices, PTA sponsored events, ceremonies, and District sponsored events. The canceling of before and after school events will be in effect until the end of the day on Friday, April 17, 2020.

While there continues to be no confirmed cases linked to our schools or in San Bernardino County, we are taking this action to protect the well-being of our students, families, staff and community. We feel it is best to exercise caution with non-essential activities as we navigate through this time of heightened anxiety and uncertainty.

The essential function of educating our students and caring for them in our afterschool care program of I.C.E.S will continue as normal. All schools will be opened and all afterschool I.C.E.S program will continue until further notice.

Adelanto Elementary School District has remained in constant contact with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and local health officials about the most current developments. We are following guidance provided by the California Department of Education and the California Department of Public Health. We will continue to share new information with staff and families via website, Peachjar emails, and Twitter.

There are simple everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. These include washing hands with soap and water, coughing into sleeve/tissue, staying home if sick, and getting a flu shot. If your child is exhibiting signs of illness such as fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing, please keep your child home and contact your health provider.

Up-to-date information about AESD schools and the District can be found on our website (www.aesd.net). More information may be found at the County website (https://www.sbcss.k12.ca.us/) and the San Bernardino County Department of Health (http://wp.sbcounty.gov/dph/).

Thank you for your continued support.
